At the interview:

  • Be confident, smile and be yourself
  • Listen and don’t jump in with an answer until the interviewer has finished speaking
  • Ensure you understand the question being asked, and if not don’t be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat the question
  • Stay on track and ensure you answer the question asked and don’t go off track
  • Use the STAR approach (see behavioral questioning) to structure your responses to questions that ask for a specific example of something
  • Observe the interviewers body language in response to your answers
  • Never swear- even if the interviewer does
  • Ensure you have asked any necessary questions to give you an idea of whether or not the role might be suitable

 

Following the interview:

  •  Thank the interviewer for their time
